Since taking office in January, Congressman Mike Haridopolos announced that his office has reclaimed over $5.4 million owed to Floridians by the federal government. In addition, more than 1,400 residents in Brevard, Indian River, and Orange counties have received assistance with issues involving federal agencies.
“This milestone proves what I’ve believed since day one: Government should work for the people,” said Congressman Haridopolos. “These numbers represent real, earned benefits for real people: veterans receiving disability checks, families gaining survivor benefits, small businesses breaking free of IRS delays, and seniors finally getting the Social Security benefits they’ve earned. When Floridians get caught in the red tape of Washington, my office is here to cut through it and make sure they receive the benefits and services they’ve earned.”
The congressman’s office reached this mark eight months into his first term in Congress. The constituent services team is made up of individuals with relevant experience, including several veterans who focus on cases related to the VA and Department of Defense.
“This kind of work is only possible because of my dedicated staff, who pour their energy into helping people,” added Haridopolos. They listen closely to every case, make the calls, follow up with agencies, and don’t stop until they have answers and results. If you’re facing problems with a federal agency, don’t hesitate to contact my office. We are here to make sure Floridians get the services and benefits they’ve earned.”
Constituent services are considered a central part of congressional responsibilities. Many Americans encounter difficulties such as delays or lost paperwork when dealing with federal agencies each year. Congressional offices often intervene when these cases extend beyond standard processing times.
Although Congressman Haridopolos’ office cannot file new applications for constituents, it can step in once an application or claim has been submitted and is delayed beyond normal timelines. At that point, staff may use federal contacts to help expedite responses and resolve outstanding issues.
Floridians can seek assistance from Congressman Haridopolos’ district office on matters involving agencies such as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Social Security Administration (SSA), Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), State Department for passports, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Examples include checking delayed tax returns or Social Security claims after typical wait times have passed; addressing military records requests; assisting with VA medical or benefit concerns; securing urgent passport appointments; and checking pending immigration forms.
