Congressman Mike Haridopolos has issued a statement following the House approval of two major appropriations bills for fiscal year 2026: H.R. 7148, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, and H.R. 7147, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act. These measures finalize federal funding for the upcoming fiscal year.

“Congress is doing its job by funding the military, keeping Americans safe, and cutting unnecessary government spending,” said Congressman Haridopolos. “These bills strengthen our national security and support our service members while delivering real results back home, including improved transportation, stronger local infrastructure, and support for growing communities.”

The appropriations package includes investments aimed at enhancing military readiness. This includes funding for new Navy aircraft designed to improve threat detection and command-and-control operations. The legislation also addresses homeland security concerns by allocating resources to combat fentanyl trafficking and equipping the Department of Homeland Security with tools to safeguard Americans.

Locally, $9 million is allocated for projects in Florida’s Space Coast and Treasure Coast regions. The funds are distributed as follows: $4 million will go toward terminal upgrades at Melbourne Orlando International Airport; $1 million is designated for widening Minton Road in Palm Bay to alleviate traffic congestion; $2 million supports passenger rail service at Cocoa Train Station with an aim to bring Brightline rail service to the area; and $2 million is allocated for expanding services at Fellsmere Public Library and Community Resource Center.
