UF INNOVATE | PATHWAYS HYBRID EVENT: Be inspired by 2019 UF Innovator of the Year, Dr. Benjamin Lok. This UF CISE professor and co-founder of Shadow Health Inc. increased his impact as an innovator, and you can do the same. If you wonder how you can combine innovation with your academic career, this seminar is for you!

Our speaker:In 2011, Dr. Benjamin Lok co-founded Shadow Health Inc., based on technology he helped create at the University of Florida. Shadow Health is an educational technology startup bridging the “academic to practice skills” gap in health care by providing rich, interactive, digital learning environments for nursing and allied health education programs. The company, acquired by Elsevier in late 2020, uses virtual patients that communicate with nursing students who interact with the patient much as they would in a clinical situation. The global pandemic increased the need for the lifelike interactions Shadow Health offers with a diverse range of virtual patients.Used by nurses and institutions all over the world, these products generate over $20 million in annual revenue and impact the health and well-being of nearly every person in the US and Canada. Learn how Dr. Lok successfully transitioned federally funded research from ideation to commercialization in this Insights Seminar.

The UF Innovate | Pathways Insights Seminar is a forum for innovators to learn, connect and gain insights to help accelerate ideas towards commercialization.
