Tina Descovich, CEO and co-founder of Moms for Liberty, said the transgender movement is a death cult deliberately targeting vulnerable children, implanted into America’s schools through a coordinated nonprofit campaign that deliberately cut parents out, and warned that conservatives are fighting back with $25,000 against a teachers’ union war chest of nearly a billion dollars.

“If you look at the tyrants throughout history, they all had programs that targeted the youth,” Descovich said on the Restoration Spotlight Podcast by Restoration News. “Once you gain control of the mind of the youth in a country and a civilization, you can help plan the trajectory for the long term of what that country is going to look like, what its government is going to look like, what principles it starts to hold true to, and what it’s going to value. Of course, they want to go after the children.”

The NEA spent more than $432 million in 2024, with just 9 percent going toward representing teachers, while the NEA and AFT together funneled a combined $228 million to left-wing organizations since 2015, including $500,000 to the main super PAC supporting the Kamala Harris campaign, according to federal labor filings analyzed by Defending Education.

Descovich said the transgender movement is not a civil rights cause but a death cult that is spiritually and physically destroying the children it claims to protect.

“The whole trans movement is about death,” she said. “They have dead names that they want to move beyond. They want to kill off the name that they were given at birth by their parents. Their souls are dying along with that dead name. They are not about procreating and moving forward with the beautiful things that God has created us to do. I would say it’s a death culture, and it’s going to be the destruction of our society if we don’t figure this out quickly.”

Descovich said gender ideology did not organically arise in America’s schools but was surgically implanted through a coordinated campaign of nonprofit infiltration that deliberately bypassed elected school boards and parents entirely.

“It starts with nonprofit organizations that sometimes have government funds being run with taxpayer dollars,” she said. “Like Equality Florida, that is who here in Florida created these gender support guides. They get themselves booked at the school board association training, the superintendent association training. They show them charts and stats about how children will die if they are not supported with these guides. It wasn’t even going to policy to be voted on.”

The NEA co-produced a guide called Schools in Transition with the ACLU and LGBTQ groups, instructing school administrators to hide a child’s gender transition from parents and to warn objecting parents that refusing to affirm their child’s new identity could trigger a suicide risk, according to the Capital Research Center

Descovich said Moms for Liberty is winning school board races but is being outspent by a margin so lopsided it amounts to a David and Goliath fight with no sling.

“If you look at the funds that the teachers’ unions have, the NEA had a half-billion-dollar budget last year,” she said. “AFT had a $250 million budget last year. That’s just the national teachers’ unions. Moms for Liberty has won over 520 school board races in the last three years. But there are 13,000 school districts in this country with a minimum of five people on each of those boards.”

Children with autism are up to six times more likely to identify as transgender or non-binary than neurotypical children, and a disproportionate share of minors admitted to UK gender clinics for puberty blockers and surgery were autistic, a pattern documented in Britain’s landmark 2024 Cass Review independent investigation into youth gender medicine.

Descovich said the Colorado custody bill that would have stripped parental rights from parents who refused to affirm their child’s gender identity is proof that every warning conservatives sounded a decade ago about where this was heading has come true.

“House Bill 1312 was one of the most egregious bills in the country concerning parental rights because it would take away the rights of the parent who did not affirm the child’s gender,” she said. “It was set to pass the House, the Senate, and be signed by the governor. Everyone thought the pastors were out of their minds 10 years ago when they said this is where it’s going.”

Tina Descovich is CEO and co-founder of Moms for Liberty and a former Brevard County, Florida, school board member who served as chairman in 2018. She and her husband, Derek, have five children.
