Barry’s School of Nursing has been named among the beneficiaries of a $79 million statewide grant that will support new scholarship opportunities and resources at Florida’s top nursing schools.

Florida is betting big on nursing education . . . and Barry University! In recognition of its exceptional contributions to nursing education, the School of Nursing has been named among the recipients of a $79 million grant awarded to the state’s top nursing schools.

According to a statement from the Governor’s office, the grant aims to bolster a critical component of Florida’s healthcare workforce by investing in nursing education. Funds will go to post-secondary nursing schools “that have gone above and beyond” in their educational programming and efforts to train Florida nurses.

As a beneficiary of this grant, Barry’s School of Nursing will receive matching money for in-state scholarship awards, faculty recruitment, equipment, and other educational resources. In keeping with the University’s longtime goal of providing a high-quality and affordable education to all, these funds will provide even greater opportunities for new generations of Floridians to enter the nursing field.

The $79 million grant is available thanks to the Linking Industry to Nursing Education (LINE) and Prepping Institutions, Programs, Employers, and Learners through Incentives for Nursing Education (PIPELINE) programs, which were created to address Florida’s nursing shortage. Both programs award funds to institutions that meet strict performance standards in nursing education.
