When the Orion spacecraft splashes down in the Pacific Ocean today at the end of its Artemis 1 mission, assistant professor J. Travis Hunsucker will be on the vessel, USS Portland, waiting to pick it up.

Pictured below is Hunsucker monitoring the waves and sea states as the ship makes its way to the recovery site. Orion is set to splashdown off the Baja Coast near Guadalupe Island, Dec. 11 at 12:40 p.m. EST.
