WHAT:

Barry University’s Andy Gato Gallery will host a photo exhibition, Wildlife Photography: Land, Sea and Air, that features the work of Zoo Miami Director Ron Magill and Barry alumni Rick McCawley and Carlos Paillacar.  This exhibition showcases the photographic work of three remarkable and dedicated wildlife photographers, who are using their talents to show the importance of protecting our world’s wildlife for generations to come. Magill is an award-winning photographer, who has photographed exotic wildlife throughout Africa, Asia and tropical America. McCawley, who earned his M.A. degree in photography from Barry, is a renowned photographer, photojournalist and educator, who focuses on transformative underwater images. Paillacar, who earned his B.F.A. in photography from Barry, is a retired Coast Guard chief, who focuses on documenting wildlife, including birds.

UKRAINE:

Another exhibition, Faces of War- Ukrainian Refugees, will also run in the Andy Gato Gallery Annex alongside the wildlife exhibition. Through his moving and powerful photographs, Stovka has been raising money and awareness for the displaced people of Ukraine. The images for this exhibit were organized by THINK+feel Contemporary in cooperation with Barry University’s Institute for Immigration Studies and the Department of Fine Arts.  A third exhibition in the interior gallery will feature the work of local artist and Barry faculty Angi Curreri. Looking Back, Looking Forward: Retirement Exhibition celebrates the culmination of Curreri’s 37 year career teaching Studio Art in Barry University’s Department of Fine Arts. The exhibition includes colored drawings, collages, and ceramic artwork spanning 1985 to the present.
