The House approved Congressman Bill Posey’s (R-Rockledge) amendment to hold the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) accountable for illegal targeting of small businesses and jeopardizing our men and women in uniform deploying overseas. The EPA has come under scrutiny for crafting regulations that exceed their legislative mandate, using militarized enforcement tactics, and refusing to answer questions from lawmakers when called to account.

“The EPA’s Air Office used the regulatory process to wipe-out an entire American trucking industry that tens of thousands of small business owners depended on allowing China to move in and corner that market,” said Congressman Posey. “The agency has been aggressively targeting and harassing small family-owned farms and other businesses like one in my district that supplies the only domestic manufactured outboard motor used by the U.S. Navy SEALS and other special operation forces, including our allies.”

Last month Congressman Posey questioned EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan about the use of heavy-handed enforcement tactics on unsuspecting small businesses owners and why they need military grade weapons and equipment. After receiving no explanation, Posey filed his amendment to rein in the EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation by reducing its administrative budget by 50 percent. “They are putting their Green New Deal agenda ahead of the Constitution and even our nation’s security and the safety of our men and women on the front lines protecting our freedom,” said Posey.
