Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) has spoken out about his vote against the latest continuing resolution. In a statement, Posey expressed his concerns about the growing national debt and the lack of border security.

Posey highlighted the alarming increase in the national debt, stating, "The national debt has now crossed $34 trillion, with over $2 trillion in debt added in just the last seven months." He emphasized the burden this places on the American people, explaining, "As it stands, every American owes $101,000 as their share of the debt. That's $264,000 per filed taxpayer."

The congressman drew attention to the negative impact of excessive government spending on inflation and the purchasing power of Americans. He stated, "Every time Washington engages in a trillion dollar plus spending spree adding more to the debt, Americans pay for it with inflation – higher prices, higher interest rates, and less purchasing power for their hard-earned money."

Posey also voiced his concerns about the ongoing chaos at the Southern border. He criticized the administration for failing to enforce the law and adequately address the influx of illegal aliens. Posey stated, "Chaos continues to reign on our Southern border, and it has become apparent that our country cannot handle the influx of millions of illegal aliens invading our nation while the administration stands idly by refusing to enforce the law."

The congressman highlighted the consequences of weak border security, including an increase in human trafficking, the flow of drugs like fentanyl into the country, and the strengthening of cartels. He stated, "Due to our lack of border security, dangerous individuals can cross into our nation untracked, and the cartels have grown stronger."

Posey concluded his statement by emphasizing the importance of responsible financial management and upholding the rule of law in governing. He stated, "The other side has talked a great deal about the need to govern, but governing starts with responsible management of finances and upholding the rule of law."

Congressman Bill Posey's concerns about the growing national debt and the lack of border security reflect the ongoing debates surrounding these issues in Congress. The congressman's statement highlights the impact of excessive government spending on inflation and the negative consequences of weak border security. As discussions around these topics continue, it remains to be seen how policymakers will address these concerns moving forward.
