In a recent vote, Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) took a stand by voting to block advancing a plan that sought to borrow an additional $100 billion for foreign aid while neglecting action to secure the southern border. The foreign aid bill allocated $60 billion to Ukraine, including funding for a Ukrainian border patrol, but offered no provisions for safeguarding the U.S. border.

"Our nation is facing an unprecedented border security crisis and a crippling national debt putting undue strain on our cities and jeopardizing the safety and security of Americans," expressed Congressman Posey, emphasizing the critical need to prioritize border defense and fiscal responsibility. He further stated, "Defending our borders and balancing our budget should be THE top priority in Washington. I’ve voted against 99% of all spending over the past four years because those bills failed to secure our border. The American people expect Washington to put America first."

Highlighting the Senate's reluctance to address individual spending bills or enact substantial border security measures, Congressman Posey criticized President Biden for maintaining numerous open border policies. He remarked, "the Senate will only take up ‘Too Big to Read’ bills that fail to close border enforcement loopholes and includes unaccountable deficit spending that further adds to our growing $34 trillion national debt."

The decision to oppose the foreign aid bill underscores Congressman Posey's commitment to prioritizing national interests and addressing pressing domestic concerns, particularly in the realm of border security and fiscal prudence.
