CITY OF PALM BAY: New Solid Waste and Recycling Services Begin October 1, 2020

Recycle

City of Palm Bay issued the following announcement.

On October 1, 2020, the City of Palm Bay will begin a new solid waste and recycling contract with Republic Services. Residential customers will receive twice-a-week garbage collection, once weekly recycling collection, and pickup for bulk and yard waste with no volume restrictions.

Republic Services Customer Service will be available beginning October 1, 2020 at (321) 989-6030 or by visiting www.republicservices.com. Any immediate inquiries may be directed to Palm Bay Public Works Customer Service at (321) 952-3437.

In preparation for the new solid waste and recycling service, Republic Services mailers have been sent to current solid waste customers with helpful information including a welcome brochure, individual collection schedules, and cart selection options. Additional resources, frequently asked questions, and a collection schedule lookup tool are available on the City of Palm Bay's website at https://www.palmbayflorida.org/services/city-services/trash-and-recycling.

During the first week of October, solid waste and recycling collection services will be rolled out beginning with garbage pickup on Thursday, October 1, 2020, and continuing with recycling, bulk, and yard waste collection services starting Monday, October 5, 2020. Please refer to the Republic Services collection mailer for pickup schedule details or use the online schedule lookup tool on the City's solid waste and recycling webpage.

Customers will continue to receive one bill from Palm Bay Utilities for solid waste services and water/sewer services, if applicable. All current billing information will remain the same, including payment information for autopay. No action is necessary; payments will continue to be deducted via automatic payment. Customers with delinquent accounts will need to contact Palm Bay Utilities Customer Service to make payment arrangements in order to receive service with Republic Services. For billing and account inquiries, or to set up solid waste and recycling service, contact Utilities Customer Service by email at ucs@pbfl.org or call (321) 952-3420.

The new contract with Republic Services includes one garbage cart and one recycling cart. From October 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020, solid waste and recycling customers will have a one-time, no-cost opportunity to exchange their current 64-gallon garbage cart for a smaller 35-gallon cart or a larger 95-gallon cart. To exchange your current 64-gallon garbage cart for a different size, simply visit https://selectmycart.com/palmbay or call (888) 755-9480 and leave your cart size selection on the recorded line. If your current 64-gallon cart size is sufficient, no action is required, and your current cart will be used for service. New carts will be delivered between February 1-28, 2021.

Between January 1-14, 2021, customers with multiple garbage carts will receive delivery of a 95-gallon garbage cart in exchange for two 64-gallon carts. Following this exchange, each additional cart will cost $9.79 per month. If you have questions regarding multiple carts, cart exchange options, or to turn in carts, contact Republic Services Customer Service at (321) 989-6030 beginning October 1, 2020.

As a reminder, Republic Service Customer Service will be available beginning October 1, 2020 at (321) 952-3437 or by visiting www.republicservices.com. Billing inquiries may be made to Palm Bay Utilities Customer Service by email at ucs@pbfl.org or by calling (321) 952-3420.
