City of Melbourne issued the following announcement.
Florida Tech will hold its 6th annual Day of Giving starting at midnight Tuesday, Nov. 17, giving Panthers from around the world the chance to support their university.
The theme is “Our University. Our Future. Game On!” and the day will feature activities in keeping with that focus, including game shows such as Panther Squares (Florida Tech’s take on the iconic Hollywood Squares) and a Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament, as well as a virtual game room featuring playable arcade classics like Frogger, Pac-Man and more.
At 1:15 p.m., WFIT 89.5 FM will broadcast a studio performance and interview with the band Beemo. Voted the best folk band in Orlando, Beemo features Florida Tech alumnus Sean Quinn ’93.
All of that and more, including a live-stream of Day of Giving events, will be available at https://dayofgiving.fit.edu. The site will also be the hub for donations and will offer a live leaderboard showing real-time dollars and donors for each participating college, athletic team, units and participating student organizations.
The Florida Tech Alumni Association Facebook page will also be active with donor challenges, updates and videos throughout the day.
The money raised through Day of Giving will support Florida Tech’s greatest needs, including financial aid, research and student activities.
The importance of participation goes beyond the amount of money raised, however. No matter the size of individual donations, the level of alumni participation overall is a factor in how organizations, including influential publications such as U.S. News & World Report, perceive the success of the university, and how they ultimately rank Florida Tech.
