CITY OF COCOA: City Council Approves Naming of the new T-Dock After Long-time Resident & Volunteer Captain Ed Lanni

Approved

City of Cocoa issued the following announcement.

Cocoa City Council officially named the new T-dock at Lee Wenner Park after long-time Cocoa resident and volunteer, Captain Ed Lanni. Captain Ed is a faithful and dedicated community leader and volunteer and a loved and respected citizen of the City of Cocoa. He is also a retired Master Mariner who served passionately in the United States Merchant Marines. He has served on the Cocoa Community Redevelopment Agency Board since 1998 and has served on many other boards in the community. He was also recognized as Cocoa's Volunteer of the Year.

The City of Cocoa also has a day dedicated in the honor of Captain Ed in May when he celebrates his birthday. He was one of the founding members of the Cocoa Main Street program and served that organization for many years.

The T-Dock was part of a waterfront project in Lee Wenner park after the docks and boat slips were destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017. The project to revitalize the Cocoa Village waterfront was complete in June 2020 and included a new 250 foot T-Dock, 14 new days slips to accommodate both boats and dinghies for short stays, and a brand new promenade along Riverfront Park.

The City of Cocoa held a ceremony on October 29, 2020 to celebrate the naming and honor Captain Ed Lanni for his many contributions to the Cocoa community.
