City of Melbourne issued the following announcement.
The City of Melbourne’s new Mayor Paul Alfrey and new City Council Member Mimi Hanley were sworn into office during last night’s Council meeting. Re-elected Council Members Yvonne Minus and Tim Thomas also took the oath of office to begin their second terms. They join Council Members Mark LaRusso, Julie Sanders and Debbie Thomas.
Outgoing Mayor Kathy Meehan was thanked and recognized for her 16 years of City Council service, which included eight years of service as mayor of the City of Melbourne.
The Council appointed Council Member Tim Thomas to serve as Vice-Mayor for 2020-2021.
Mayor Alfrey was appointed to serve on the Airport Authority Board. Council Member Hanley was appointed to serve as a regular member to the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization.
Council also appointed Council Member Sanders to serve as a voting delegate and Council Member Debbie Thomas as an alternate voting delegate to the Space Coast League of Cities for 2020.
