Capt. Chris Cassidy, a retired NASA astronaut and U.S. Navy SEAL, will share his story with the Florida Tech community on February 27 at 11 a.m. in the Hartley Room of the Homer R. Denius Student Center. Capt. Cassidy’s appearance is brought to campus courtesy of Einstein Bros. Bagels at Florida Tech. The event is free and open to all students, faculty and staff.

Those who plan to attend this event may enter to win a personalized photo of Capt. Cassidy with every purchase made at the Panther Food Court Einstein Bros. Bagels location now through the time of the event. Drawings will be held following the talk at 12 p.m. You must be present to win.

About Capt. Chris Cassidy

As a U.S. Navy SEAL, Capt. Cassidy amassed several hundred hours underwater as a pilot/navigator of a special operations mini-submarine and made four six-month deployments: two to Afghanistan and two to the Mediterranean Sea.

Capt. Cassidy was selected as an astronaut candidate by NASA in 2004 and went on to become a veteran of three space flights: STS-127, Expedition 35/36 and Expedition 62/63. During STS-127, he served as a mission specialist and was the 500th person in history to fly into space, where he clocked more than 54 hours of spacewalk time. He was named Chief of the Astronaut Office at NASA in 2015.

Capt. Cassidy holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the United States Naval Academy and a master’s in ocean engineering from MIT.
